The idea is great, the mat has two layers joined together. The top layer is full of holes so that when the cat steps on it, it leaves the litter remains from the litter box and they go through the holes. They would fall to the bottom which is completely smooth and acts as a kind of bag or pouch that retains that litter. Then it can be emptied and it becomes impeccable again for the cat to step on it again. The materials are good for the price they have. I had already bought a very similar one 2 years ago, it has held up very well and retains quite a bit of litter when my cat comes out of the litter box. It is the size described, it’s a foam type. The only downside is that it came folded to save space and I had to leave it in the sun to flatten out.

I bought one of these before so i knew it’s a great mat. The folds are easily flattened in a day or two just by placing it under a rug then placing a stool or heavy books on it. The double layer works great, just lift the top weave and vacuum in between the layers. For cat puke, just let it dry and it will vacuum right off too (use a nozzle or brush tip on a hand vac or attachment). Surprisingly my old one still looks like new; i just got another for a different litter box.
