Works well
I have 3 of these in operation, one has been in use for 10 years now. We have one set to fully close the door behind you, and the other 2 are set to leave the door slightly ajar rather than the doors left wide open.

Loud squeaking noise / fell apart in less than 6 months of use
I bought it, as the installation was straight forward and simple, compared to overhead door closures.I installed it on my house to basement interior door, (not heavy with very little traffic), right from day one it made a squeaking noise, which continued to increase with passage of time, until it became unbearable and had no option but to replace it. When i took it off (within 6 months or usage), it fell apart as seen in the picture. This may be good for a small kitchen cabinet door at best.Extremely disappointed as now my door has 5 holes. Save yourselves trouble and unnecessary holes in the door, by buying a overhead door closure that actually works.

Good idea, doesn’t work
Looked like a good idea in a slim package, so I bought it. Install was super easy and was easy to ‘adjust’ but it simply doesn’t work.My gate is super light and needs next to no force to close. If you set the tension low, the closer only closes the gate if it is all the way open aka 90 degrees. (Open the gate 3/4 or less and the closer does nothing).Set the tension one notch higher and it SLAMS the gate if opened 3/4 or more, but still doesn’t close it if it’s less than half way open…

Works well..
Closes door slowly. but surely Only 5 screws for installation. You may want to make sure that the door and the door surround are within no more than 1/4″ of being on the same plane.and that you have enough room on the surround to fit the spring cover.

Easy to install and works as expected
Basement door was constantly left open and taking direct hits from the garage entrance door. The Prime-Line closer was easy to install (I watched the short video) and closes the door fully after each use. No more colliding doors.

Pack with grease before installation for silent operation.
These things are great! I have bought 3 over the past year to keep various doors closed. All are still functioning just fine, and I just disassembled the oldest one and it still looked new inside. Only downside is if you install it right out of the box it will creak and groan unless you disassemble it and pack it with wheel bearing grease.First one was for the upstairs bathroom, we have to keep that door closed during the summer months when the Air Conditioning is on so that the bedrooms stay cool. During the winter it’s not necessary so I just take the main rod off but leave it mounted to the door frame. Just yesterday I took it down off the wall and took it apart and to my surprise it still looked brand new inside despite being subject to a year’s worth of hot showers. I was really expecting it to be badly corroded but no it was mint inside. Took the opportunity to pack some grease inside as it was creaking a lot and waking people up at night. Is now silent.Second was installed on the door to the basement a month later. This is a larger door that has foam sound deadening installed onto it so fairly heavy, plus we need this door to latch when it self-closes so it’s wound-up pretty freakin’ tight. I still have not greased this one as noise is not really an issue with this door (I don’t even notice it now). I expect this to be the one to eventually break but it is still going strong after 11 months of everyday use (it doesn’t get 6 months off like the first one). With the first 2 doing well I just purchased and installed a 3rd onto the master bedroom door to help keep it closed during the summer. This is actually the first one I took apart to grease, and learned how simple the mechanism is. Just hold it tight in 1 hand and undo the Phillips screw, it’s literally 5 pieces (2 end caps you put grease in, 2 springs & the center piece). The springs have pins that go into holes in either end and you just have to remember not to get the springs mixed up (they’re different) and remember which way the arrow was pointing on the center piece. If you get mixed up it’s not so bad you just have to hold it together in your hand and then turn the center piece away from the arrow (pretend you’re opening the door) you want the springs to wind-up when the door opens, and unwind to push the door closed.4 out of 5 overall only due to having to grease it and I know there are people out there that are timid with mechanical things and can’t deal with getting a little grease on their hands but for me its such an easy procedure prior to installation; Ease, Value & Sturdiness all 5/5.
