KC10HD – Safety Spring Door Closer

4-1/4″, Diecast, White

These safety spring-activated door closers are constructed of diecast materials and come in a white painted finish. They are U.L. listed with a 1/2 hour fire rating, and can be used to close doors weighing up to 150 lbs. These closers feature an adjustable closing speed, and they are non-handed, allowing them to be used on both left and right-handed swinging doors. Both the closer and the plastic slide plate are surface-mounted and are easy to install.

  • Used to convert right or left hinged doors to self-closing doors
  • 1 in. wide base, 4-1/4 in. hole center spacing, 4-3/4 in. arm
  • These safety closers feature an adjustable closing speed and they can close doors weighing up to 150 lbs

    Failed to maintain tension

    Fails to main tension, upon retightening makes a clanking noise and loses tension again. Now I have to fix the damage the install did to my door and wall.

    Worked great for about 3 days

    Then it started making weird spring noises, and since then it’s become progressively weaker and weaker. The door is hollow particle board standard 32″ wide so it’s not doing a whole lot of work. Now about 2 weeks later, I had to adjust the setting to the next notch as it is no longer able to close the door on the previously first-installed setting. Maybe a dud but it’s a very high traffic area, maybe door is opened 10 to 20 times a day. I’d maybe look around for an alternative product.

    No more calling out to my kids to close the door!!!

    This is an amazing little gadget that was easy to install. It took a bit of figuring out as to how to get the tension but now, my door closes and my kids don’t have to remember to close it to save energy.Just love it.

    Squeaks after a week of use

    Install was easy. After about a week, it started to make a very loud squeaking sound low pitched. Not a pleasant sound. Don’t recommend.

    Looks good, doesn’t take up much room.

    Product looks good, appropriate for a nicely styled room. The spring makes a bit of twangy noise but it seems to work OK.
