Not worth it
This was so difficult to install, it broke and also broke our door. It’s so strong that we couldn’t even open the door after it was installed. I would not recommend this even though it has a cheap price

Hard to open even when adjusted
Nice unit, relatively easy to install, good instructions, but it is hard to open the door even when adjusted per the instructions. Unit does not have a “hold open” feature – a real disadvantage. My wife hates it.

I paid for new and got used with missing parts
I ordered a new product and paid for a new product and the product i got is used. The box was opened when i received it, a screw is missing and you can tell it has been installed, there are scratches around the adjustment screws. I would like a new one sent out like i paid for. With all the peices and instructions.

Good auto door closer but don’t trust the instructions
After reading several reviews, I had the closer installed without too much trouble. Yes, it’s not for doors with elaborated trims.First you would want to compare the body with the instruction template to see if they match. If so, then the template is good for drilling the pilot holes for the body.Secondly, it would be a good idea to unscrew and disconnect the connecting arm from the adjustable telescopic arm. After then, put the connecting arm to the square bolt on the body. This make the installation of the shoe easier. For the shoe and the telescopic arm, I put it further away from the body. The distance is about 2.5 inches, measuring from the outer most screw of the body to the closer screw of the shoe. The shoe should placed at the EN#2 position (i.e., the oblong hole of the shoe is closer to the hinges). After the shoe was installed, it’s relatively easy to turn the connecting arm a little bit to be reconnected with the the telescopic arm.Last, adjust the telescopic arm and the two speed screws (set them to very slow).Right now, the door closes slowly and smoothly. It’s also quite easy to open.

Very hard to open door but works and is quiet
Followed the instructions. Didn’t realize the arm coming from the hydraulic door mounted part should not be 90 degrees as it shows in all its diagrams. The arm mounted above the door should be 90 degrees.Getting the arm from above the door to slide down over the arm from the hydraulic portion was a bit hard. I did bang on it a few times with my heavy duty side cutters. This did leave some minor chips in the paint which will probably rust at some point. However, a snug fit is probably better then a loose fit. When you take the parts out of the package you will immediately be impressed with this ultra heavy duty feeling door closer. All the parts feel like heavy duty steel. I doubt they are truly heavy duty steel at this price, but whatever they are, everything is very heavy! After adjustment, the door closes and latches perfectly. The one downside is the door is VERY HARD to open. I even moved the part above the door over about 4 inches to see if it made it easier. It seemed to make it a little easier but the door is still very hard to open.Overall if you want to stop people leaving doors open or slamming doors, this is a great solution. I ordered four. Just finished the first one. Three more to go. Will I get them installed before you order yours, receive it, and install it?Choosing between kiddo constantly slamming all the doors in the house inducing fight or flight all day long or having doors that are hard to open but never slam, I am going no slam every time. Which do you prefer?

Microscopically tiny!
This should be in the Guinness World Record Book ? for tiniest door closer! This thing is so tiny it might be able to close the door on a doll house but nothing else. I tried installing it just to amuse myself and then all the oil just spooged out and squirted sticky goo all over the door.#EpicFail!

Works great on our beach house elevator doors
The old closers were so rusty, I want sure how much longer they would last. While getting our house painted I ordered these and the contractor installed. He said they take about 2 weeks to acclimate but they’re working perfect right out of the box.

Pretty easy install, a little stiff
Install was simple if you follow the measurements paired with the template they provide. The hydraulic mechanism offers a little too much resistance, so I’m not sure if that’s something a little more tinkering might improve, so if I find a way I’ll update
